Every awards season has a breakout style star and this year that person is Ruth Negga, who features in the acclaimed film Loving.
In 2016, it was Alicia Vikander who impressed the fashion set with her elegant Scandi-inspired fashion choices, and now it's Negga's turn to take the baton. The Irish-Ethiopian actress first entered the limelight last year with the action movie Warcraft: The Beginning, before taking Loving to Cannes Film Festival where her style prowess became clear. Her wardrobe is distinctive, underpinned by her preferred labels – the dark romance of Rodarte and the soft femininity of Valentino. Her beauty look is often drawn from the Thirties with glamorous finger waves and a slick of red lipstick.
If further proof was needed that Negga is the sartorial one to watch this year, just look to her Golden Globes ensemble: a glittering gown by Louis Vuitton. We predict a campaign to follow suit.
